The Outdoor Amenities

“The terrace at the end of the garden is the ideal place for sitting and relaxing, enjoying the views across the fields to the forests, especially when the sun is setting. Why not sit on the terrace and have an aperatif or dine al fresco? A barbeque is available for your use. The terrace by the swimming pool is good for playing table tennis and across on the other side is the boules pitch, under the shade of the large trees that separate our property from the farm next door.”

How does this sound???

Porches, balconies, patios, and decks are great amenities to offer when you have nature lovers and outdoorsy people checking out your rental property. Selecting a home with such factors is an effective way to help keep your rental book during the nice weather seasons. If you do have one or more of these living spaces, turning it into a comfortable area be are sure to enjoy is essential for your vacation rentals business.

Select Appropriate Outdoor Furniture

Place furniture on your outdoor area that will accommodate as many guests as your rental home does. It’s actually nice if you add a couple of extra seats in case your renters have guests over that live in the area. Everyone needs a place to sit while enjoying the nature from your patio or deck, so 6-8 seats surrounding a small table would be sufficient. On the balconies, especially those coming out of a bedroom, a small table with two chairs is acceptable.

Be sure to select good, sturdy furniture that will either hold up in the weather, or will be taken inside between guests and during bad storms. Make it reflect the atmosphere of your rental home, whether you have a condo on the beach or a rustic cabin in the mountains. Go for comfort, as that is what your renters will be seeking when they stay in your home. Add a swing or a few rocking chairs to a porch, and an umbrella to an uncovered deck or patio.

Don’t Forget the Grill

If given the appropriate furniture, your guests are likely to use your outdoor living areas as dinnertime havens. Firing up a BBQ grill is a perfect way to cook in the summer, so you may want to consider adding a charcoal or gas grill. I wouldn’t suggest going with anything too extravagant, but something large enough to grill meat for the number of people your vacation rental home sleeps would be suitable. Also, consider your space before you make your purchase.

Larger charcoal grills aren’t appropriate for a small deck or patio, but you could make due with an electric gas in a small area. Food is generally cooked faster on gas or electric grills, but they are also more costly. Charcoal grills are usually cheaper, but the charcoal needed is likely to become more expensive than the fuel for other grills in the long run. Overall, it’s all up to your preference, and what you would like to supply your guests (and yourself when you stay) with at your rental property.
