Vacation Rentals by Owner

beachhouse.com

www.beachhouse.com - Are only beach houses available?

The kind of name it is – beachhouse.com, I was forced to think that this site could give me the list of all the rentals by the beach. Okay, this should be the site where I had to be, because I wanted to take a rental by the beach. Which beach – Well, that’s not decided as yet, but some place in the world that could offer me to put up my feet and relax.

www.beachhouse.com might have had some, or maybe lot of information on rentals by the beach. Certainly, the homepage did not quite appeal to me. This is one page that has to take the attention of any visitor to the site. If this page does not appeal to people, chances are that people would go away as soon as they came to the site.

That for me was a big letdown, because I was looking up to this site to give me the information required for me to go hunting for a beach rental.

Four reasons on why Beach House can get popular!

Information, Information and many more – It has it all!

Do not worry about hunting for a different travel or vacation rental site for information. You could find almost the entire Wiki here! Trust me; expect to find a remote isolated island in Mauritius with ease. At the same time, you could also find the tropical beaches of Copa Cabana having some vacation rentals with the same ease! Isn’t that what you call a comprehensive directory?

Do not bother on the ease of navigation! Well, I say do not bother because what would you navigate on. The first page itself has so much information, that you do not need to look anywhere else.

Excellent Listings – I was certainly impressed!

One thing I was eagerly on the lookout after the first page mishap was the beach houses listings. After all, that’s why I had come to this site. If this site had not given me that information, I would have easily been convinced that this one is surely a dud. And to my surprise, I found that the beach listings did not disappoint me at all.

I could take the name of any beach that I knew of, and could expect to find a listing besides the place. After some time, I quite exhausted my knowledge on the beaches I knew around the globe, but this site went on with its listings.

Search linking is easy!

Much as we would be complaining on the plethora of the information provided to you, and it is justified, the site does make it easy for you to search for your vacation rentals. The issue is where to click, because some of the font size is so invisible that you would take some time figuring that out.

If you have managed that, I am sure you would be able to get clicking on some really good vacation listings.

Only beach rentals and nothing else, sorry!

One thing that attracted me to this site was the name www.beachhouse.com. I knew that this could be a site that had all the information on rentals by the beaches. To that extent, I should say I am not going back empty handed. But at the same time, I also found some intruders here! What I mean to say is I could find rentals at places that do not have any remote connection with beaches.

Please – why ever did you name the site www.beachhouse.com if it was giving information on all listings. I felt let down, and though it did not make much of a difference to my end opinion of this site, I would think twice of recommending this site to my friends.

Quality information for every listing!

Yes, there was information aplenty on one beach house, but it was neatly presented to me. This was more than enough to convince me on the quality of the site. Almost 1 full page was given to each listing, ensuring that no bit of information was really missed out on. In doing so, I could get a whole load of information in a rather unobtrusive way.

Of course, the information given to me was more than enough for me to finalize on the beach house of my choice. And I must give credit to the complete and detailed information that this site gave me, without which I may not have been able to make a good choice.

Areas of Improvement

www.beachhouse.com promises a lot conceptually, but fails terribly in its implementation. The thought here I think is to make this site unique – With providing listings of rentals by beaches around the world. With that being said, something should have been done to ensure the site looks different and the information is being presented differently.

Instead, I found the Home Page bombarding with information, most of which I would have discarded on seeing at the first instance. That, per me is one major drawback of this site. I put up with this drawback because I desperately wished to go to a rental by the beach. I am not sure though if this site could get lucky with others.

My Rating

Book a vacation for by the beach – That was my objective with which I came to this site! Was I able to meet my objectives? I say, “Yes” and also add on to it by saying it has some teething problems that it has to sort out. Agreed that the information given to me was helpful, but I presume it needs to do a lot in keeping the visitors to the site interested overall.

This site gets 3.8 out of 5, and though I was able to achieve my objectives, I rate it down due to the fact that I had to put up with almost an hour of nonsense before I could find a way of getting to beach rentals.

Conclusion

In brief – This site is an excellent place for anyone to go through to book his or her beach rental. It just has beach rentals next to some really popular beaches across the globe. Some rentals are located near places, which you would not have even heard of until now.

Lanzarote´s Hottest Attractions

The eastern most Canary Island of Lanzarote is one of Europe´s hottest winter sun destinations.  Boasting a whole range of cool attractions that offer visitors to the Island of Fire much more than just the usual water parks and golf courses common to other Spanish sunspots.  And with flights to Lanzarote lasting just four hours the island is the closest winter destination to the UK too.

Back in the 1960´s and 70´s an island born artist and architect called Cesar Marnique campaigned for the controlled evolution of tourism on his beloved island.  And in order to illuminate an alternative path for development created a unique range of tourist attractions – which have helped to cement Lanzarote´s position as the cool Canary Island today.

During the 1730´s Lanzarote was subjected to the modern worlds longest ever volcanic eruption.  Which buried around one quarter of the island beneath a sea of molten lava.  A cataclysmic event that caused enormous disruption and spurred the emigration of thousands of Lanzaroteños to Latin America and Cuba.

But today the volcanic region of the island has been declared a National Park and is one of the most popular visitor attractions in all of Spain.  Drawing in over 900,000 tourists during 2007 alone.

Cesar Manrique was instrumental in the transformation of this region into Lanzarote´s most popular and best known attraction.  Island legend has it that he divined the optimum route for sightseers through the park by walking across the lava fields naked.  Whilst also creating the breathtaking Devils Diner restaurant which enjoys panoramic views across the spent cones and peaks and where visitors can enjoy seeing their food cocked by the heat from the volcano below.

Visitors to the Timanfaya National Park are able to witness the eerie lava fields up close and personal on tour buses that wend their way through the Park.  And visiting Lanzarote without taking the time to take the tour is akin to traveling to Egypt and ignoring the pyramids.

Elsewhere on the island Manrique teamed up with fellow architect Jesus Soto and continued to fuse art with nature by transforming a collapsed 6km long lava tube into an underground grotto – complete with bars, restaurants and beautifully planted gardens.

The Jameos del Agua is this site is known is also home to a species of blind albino crab, entirely unique to Lanzarote that glow in the water like jewels. The scale of the site here is such that visiting Hollywood legend Rita Heyworth declared the Jameos the 8th wonder of the world.

Looking for a Natural High?  The Mirador del Rio at the Northern tip of the island was built by Manrique on the site of a former naval gun battery.  Which overlooks the neighbouring island of La Graciosa – reputedly the real life location of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic book, Treasure Island.

Visitors here can enjoy a bird’s eye view across the El Rio strait to La Graciosa whilst also enjoying all of the usual flourishes that have become so closely associated with Manriques work. Located in a former quarry the Cactus Garden celebrates the plant world’s spiniest species – with over 10,000 different types of cacti on display.

The Cactus Garden is located right in the heart of what used to be cactus country on Lanzarote.  As this is the spot where local farmers harvested the cochineal beetle that feeds on the tunera cactus.  And which they then transformed into a dye stuff that had many uses – such as colouring the red coats of English infantrymen during the 19th century.

Have Snowbirds Flocking to your Vacation Rental

If you have a vacation property nestled in the mountains of snow covered hills, then you obviously want to market your home to skiers. In your listing, you should highlight the exact location of your property. How close is it to the nearest slope? How is the view? Are you located closer to town or high in the mountains? Answer these questions as you advertise your rental property to the snow lovers. Give approximate milage to local attractions, nearby ski areas, bus stops, and restaurants. Also, tell your potential guests the best way to get around your area.

Photos are the most effective ways of offering your views to people reading your listing. Include beautiful shots that show the property covered by a layer of pretty, white snow. This will help your reader feel the experience of staying at your home while sitting in front of their computer. Snap a photo showing ski runs in the background if you are close enough. This is a good way to snag any interested skiers. Also, offer photos of vacationers and locals participating in activities other than skiing. Many people love the snow, but may not have a clue how to ski. Feature people having fun sledding, snowboarding, and building a snowman.

To earn more income, increase your rates just a bit during holidays. You’ll only have the chance to do this during weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas, so you should take advantage of the raise. Also, consider running specials for early bird travelers in October and/or November.

Depending on your location, the ground may not be completely covered with snow at this time, but travelers may take you up on the offer if they feel they are getting a deal. Advertise your vacation property to both short term and long term visitors. Create rates for one, two, and three months, and listing them along with your nightly and weekly prices.

To appeal to skiers, you must have the right accommodations and amenities. The most popular amenities for snowbirds are fireplaces, hot tubs, and ski closets. Some additional ones you should consider offering include an boot warmers, an indoor swimming pool, and an assortment of gloves, mittens, and toboggans. Also, promote the amenities that may very well be unique to your rental property, such as a big screen TV, multiple king size beds, a cappuccino machine, and video game consoles.

Express the maximum capacity in more than just a number. If you can sleep 10, include what the sleeping arrangements will be, whether it be beds, sleeper sofas, and air mattresses. Be cautious about booking college students or wild party goers coming to hang out on the slopes during school holidays. These people may be planning to fit twice as many people inside your rental as you allow, so it’s a good idea to screen them by talking with them on the phone prior to booking.
