Despite the current economic climate and the weakness of Sterling versus the euro the holiday destination of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands still expects to welcome over one million visitors this year.  With many tourist searching for good value self catering accommodation on the island.  Building their own DIY holidays online as an alternative to package deals and hotel breaks.

  There´s a large selection of Lanzarote apartments available to rent across the island.  Offering good standards of accommodation at reasonable prices.  With a weeks stay starting from around €170 per week.

  Puerto del Carmen – the oldest and most popular resort on the island – offers the best selection of apartment accommodation.  Boasting more holiday complexes than any other destination on Lanzarote.  Good quality apartments in Puerto del Carmen can be found in both the New and Old Town areas.  Which are nominally demarcated by the Bisofera Shopping Centre, which lies on the cusp of the two.

  Families with young children should opt for accommodation in the New Town – as the apartments here are in closer proximity to the main beach, Playa Grande.  As well as all of the facilities and amenities of the resort. The Old Town is more atmospheric – and is home to many of the best restaurants in Puerto del Carmen.  But the nearest beach is ten minutes walk away.  Making it a less suitable destination for kids.

Puerto del Carmen is just one of three main resorts on the island. 

 But despite it´s popularity Playa Blanca, to the south, provides the best selection of Lanzarote villas.  With more properties available for holiday rental than any other resort.  Thanks to the fact that many overseas investors have bought villas here to rent out to holiday makers.

  Playa Blanca certainly makes an ideal base for anyone planning a self catering holiday on the island.  As the resort has the best weather in Lanzarote.  Enjoying hot, sunny spells even during the winter months when the north of the island can be shrouded in cloud.

  Costa Teguise is Lanzarote´s most northerly resort.  Developed during the 1980´s under the guidance of the famous island born artist Cesar Manrique Costa Teguise offers a limited selection of self catering accommodation.  Much of which is located in and around the beach at Playa Bastian.  The main emphasis here though is on apart hotels and hotels.  With many establishments here relying on the main tour operators to fill beds and boost occupancy rather than independent travellers.
