Moscow’s Rich Culture

During a vacation in Moscow, there are many different things that visitors long to see. But, none more

so than the wonderful historical attractions, museums, and galleries that share some of the largest and most important Russian art work and history. Moscow has several world famous museums and galleries that are some of the most important in the world, and there are frequent exhibits held there that are a wonderful mix of both modern and classic works.

Probably the most famous art museums in Moscow is the Tretyakov Gallery which was founded by Pavel Tretyakov. The gallery itself is split into two different buildings, which house two different types of art works. One part, the Old Tretyakov gallery, is the original gallery on the south bank of the Moskva River and holds the works of the classic Russian tradition. Some of the artists who’s work is held here include: Ilya Repin, Kazimir Malevich, and Wassily Kandinsky. The New Tretyakov gallery houses newer artists who paint more in the socialist realism style. Another famous art museum in Moscos is the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, which holds some of the most famous paintings from world renown painters. Some of the artists featured here include: Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, and Picasso.

For a wonderful taste of Russian history, the State Historical Museum is located between Red Square and Manege Square in Moscow. This museum has exhibitions that range from prehistoric to present day times in Russia, and holds some priceless works of art that were acquired by the Romanovs. There are actually several million different objects that are held in the museum, which is one of the largest in the world.

Of course, there is also a thriving performing arts culture in Moscow, which include both ballet and film. There are actually 93 different theaters, 132 cinemas, and 24 concert halls in Moscow alone. Some of the more well known include the Bolshoi Theater, the Malyi Theater, the Vakhtangov Theater, and Moscow Art Theater. There are many different types of shows and ballets that play throughout the year, so be sure to catch one while you vacation in Moscow.

Vacation Fun In Istanbul

Turkey’s cultural and financial center and covers over 27 different districts of the Istanbul province. But, even though the city is known for it’s major influence on the world stage, there are so many different ways that you can have one of the funnest vacations in your life here.

One of the most popular places in Istanbul are the swimming areas in Bakirkoy, Sariyer, Bosphorus, and Kucukcekmece. There are some outside of the city that many visitors enjoy as well, such as Prince’s Islands, Silivri, and Tuzla, so don’t feel that you have to stay in the city to enjoy some watery fun. These areas also offer some of the best seafood restaurants that you will find in the city, so if you love seafood, you should be sure to check out some of the wonderful water front restaurants there.

If it’s shopping you crave on your vacation in Istanbul, there are numerous historical shopping centers throughout the city, such as the Grand Bazaar, the Egyptian Bazaar, and the Mahmutpasa Bazaar where you can find some wonderful treasures to take home with you. There are also many modern day shopping malls where you can find some of the latest Turkish fashions to enjoy. Both the bazaars and the malls offer some of the traditional treasures that Turkey is famous for as well as the modern day fashions and artwork that visitors love to see.

But what would a vacation be without awesome night spots to dance away the night? Along with all the traditional Turkish restaurants, there are also a growing number of European and Eastern restaurant and clubs for visitors. While in Istanbul, visitors cannot miss the historic pubs and winehouses on Istiklal Avenue. Some of these great places date back to the 18th century, and are still hopping in today’s modern world. There are other great taverns and pubs on Sahne Streen, Mesrutiyet Avenue, and Nevizade Street, so don’t miss them either when you are out on the town at night. There are many great clubs that offer live music and dancing way into the early morning house. Make sure that you visit some of the more popular ones, such as Babylon, Reina, Sortie, and Nu Pera when you feel like dancing.
