Bulgaria – A Vacation Rich In Culture
Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe. Located in Southeastern Europe, it shares it’s borders with five other countries: Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, and Turkey. The country itself holds some of the
classical regions of legend, such as Thrace, Macedonia, and Moesia, and the local cultures began producing some of the most beautiful golden artifacts as early as the 5th millennium BC. Bulgaria itself still preserves the traditions of the First Bulgarian Empire, which was from about 632-1018. During this time period, the empire covered most of the Balkans and spread it’s alphabet, literature, and cultures among the other native people of the area. Even centuries later, their cultural stamp can still be seen throughout the country and it’s neighbors.
The country is a wonderful mix of different climates and landscapes. From snow covered mountains to the beautiful Black Sea coast, and the plains to the lowlands, Bulgaria has something for everyone. Each different area of the country has it’s own landscape, from a Mediterranean climate to a colder, snowy climate, it is easy to find the perfect mix of vacation spots here to enjoy it all. The overall climate of Bulgaria is very temperate, with cool winters and hot summers. Along the Black Sea, there is a very Mediterranean type climate, where the weather is mild most of the year round.
