If you are ready for a Latin style trip, it may be time to consider the natural beauty of Madrid, Spain. It is rich in history, and has one of the most beautiful environments you will find in any national capital in the world.  So,  grab your bags, and let’s take a look.

Madrid is the largest city in Spain, according to statistics put together on the European Union website. It also happens to be the third most densely populated city in all of Europe. In this place of old world charm lies the beating heart of a place of 21St Century modernity.  In fact, it is an on going challenge for the people of Madrid to try to balance this need to keep the old, while introduce the new.

Unlike many parts of Spain, the city of Madrid is very green, and is covered in the most beautiful of green trees and foliage. There are lots of parks, quaint roads, and natural phenomena to make traveling here a pleasant experience.  But don’t be too worried about feeling crowded, there is 234 sq miles of area to enjoy, which takes away from the fact that Madrid is home to 6 million people.

The climatic conditions that Madrid experiences are much cooler winters and much warmer summers as in summers the temperature can easily surpass even 40 degrees and in winters can also fall below 0 degrees. Rainfalls are not usually a part of summers or winters, instead Madrid mostly receives rainfalls in spring and autumn seasons.

The town is full of history. One place you will surely want to see is The Royal Palace of Madrid. The King of Spain lives here. You will also want to visit the so called  “The Golden Triangle of Art”.  It is composed of three museums combined and named as such. Madrid is also rich in academic life, which definitely colors the overall culture.

For the football fans, Madrid is home to one of the world’s biggest and largest football clubs, named  “Real Madrid”. The home ground of Real Madrid is located in the Chamartín region of Madrid, and has a capacity of over 80,000 people. But don’t count Atletico Madrid out either, for a day of fun at the football game. (For the Yanks reading this article, we are talking about soccer.)

If you want to make your stay in Madrid a truly magical experience, you may want to consider staying at the Laura Hotel, AC Palaciro del Retiro, or the beautiful De Las Letras Hotel and Restaurante. Mix this with a visit to the fine dining at Casa Lucio, Pan de Lujo, or Txirimiri, and you will have a memory for a lifetime.  These hotels and restaurants offer specials, so make sure and do some research prior to booking.

Spring and fall are ideal times to visit Madrid. May and October are the best months, in terms of weather and crowds. August is the month when Madrid is traditionally at its most peaceful, as many of its inhabitants have escaped to the mountains,  or are sunning themselves on the Atlantic or Mediterranean coasts.  So, start preparing your trip to Madrid now.  The magic of this old world capital becoming  new awaits you.
