1. Bouchard’s, Newport, Rhode Island
Bouchard’s is one of Newport’s premier fine dining establishments. For over 20 years Bouchard’s has been serving incredible, authentic French cuisine. Chef/owner Albert Bouchard began his career at age 15 apprenticing for a French chef then spent the next several years honing his skills in four-star restaurants in New York, followed by two years cooking at Chez Hosten in France before opening in Newport. The food at Bouchard’s is world class, but it’s only one aspect of the experience. The incredible staff, all expert sommeliers, is able to make the perfect pairing of wine from their extensive cellar. The atmosphere is private, and romantic, and feels like you’re dining in an elegant home in Newport at the turn of the century.
2. Topper’s, Nantucket, Massachusetts
One of the nation’s most acclaimed restaurants, Topper’s features cuisine served amid stunning views of Nantucket Bay. Located in the Wauwinett, the only Relais and Chateaux rated Inn on Nantucket; Topper’s is the epitome of elegance. The food is New American cuisine. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally. Their cellar of over 1450 wines has repeatedly been awarded the Wine Spectator’s Grand Award. The combination of a knowledgeable staff, elegant surroundings, spectacular views, delectable food and an incredible wine selection make this restaurant one for the bucket list! 3. Tosca, Hingham, MA
Tosca is a gem of a restaurant located in the 1910 Granary Marketplace building in Hingham, a seaside town located 20 minutes south of Boston. Featuring Italian-inspired Fusion cuisine, served in a soaring theatrical atmosphere with hand-hewn beams and exposed brick, Tosca is a spectacular venue for enjoying a relaxing meal. Whether you’re in the mood for a prime aged steak, or Pasta with Wild Boar Bolognese, Tosca always delivers a perfect dining experience.
4. Carnegie Deli, Manhattan, New York
Not all memorable dining experiences feature incredible creative cuisine served in a spectacular atmosphere, sometimes you just need a great sandwich. At the Carnegie, you get that and so much more! First opened in 1937 they’ve been serving the most authentic deli found ever since. The atmosphere is unique and features hundreds of signed pictures of theatre, movie and TV celebrities, sports figures, politicians and presidents who have eaten there in the past 75 years! All of the meats are prepared in house and served on HUGE overstuffed sandwiches by a surly wait-staff that only adds to the charm! It’s truly a NY deli experience!
5. Bubba’s Barbecue, Buxton, North Carolina
Bubba’s is to barbecue what the Carnegie is to deli! Located on the Outer Banks, it’s the quintessential NC pit barbecue. You can dine indoors, or even better, enjoy your authentically prepared chicken or pork at the picnic tables on the shores of Palmlico Sound steps away from the enormous open outdoor pit! Make sure to check out the pen behind the restaurant and say hello to the free-range chickens and pigs before they make it onto the pit!
