THE AREA

Aegina was once the first capital of Greece and accumulated many neo-classical buildings and an impressive sea front. Transfer of the capital to Athens has left the port of Aegina as a small town with intricate pathways and a delightful energy that persists all year round – long after other islands have shut down. In fact Christmas and New Year are very good times to visit.

A ‘must visit’ on Aegina is the temple of Apheas – the best preserved of all Greek temples. The town has everything you need: great Tavernas, fish market, bars, clubs, car/bike rentals, and even a few supermarkets.

The Gaff (named by a group of cockney visitors) is located about 10-15mins walk from the ferry port which serves Athens hourly (40mins Hydrofoil or 70mins conventional ferry). The Gaff is also 10 minutes walk from Aegina ‘town’ beach and 15 minutes away from another 2 beaches. So, a car is not necessary.



INTERIORS

The Gaff comprises one double bedroom, one single and an area adjacent to the lounge which can serve as a twin sleeping area. Two folding beds are available and the house has slept 6 or 7 many times, although we suggest 5 is more comfortable. One and a half baths, large living / dining room, fully equipped kitchen, and shaded terraces. The villa has natural ventilation and is very tastefully decorated with contemporary furnishings. Below the large shaded terrace – with outside dining table – is an uncovered patio which can be used for sunbathing if desired.
