This comfortable family cottage has lots of character and huge gardens so the kida can play safely so the parents can relax.

The ground floor consists of an open plan lounge/ kitchen /dining area, so Mum doesn't feel left out of the holiday and stuck in the kitchen.

The comfortable lounge/ dining area has a log burner, some granite walls and exposed oak beams.

The well equipped kitchen area has a door leading to a covered veranda.

The 1st floor has a shower room and 2 bedrooms, a large double bedroom and a bedroom with bunk beds both with granite walls and exposed oak beams.

There is a separate patio with garden furniture, sun canopy and a BBQ.



There are two and a half acres of gardens with open views over undulating farmland.

The communal patio area has a brick BBQ, the ideal place for parents to get to know one another, while the kids play. We have had many an enjoyable evening with a BBQ and a few drinks.

The heated above ground pool is made of teak to fit in with the surroundings in the orchard. The pool is open from May - September.

The gardens are the ideal place to either relax by the pool, have a picnic under a tree, or just sit and read a good book while sipping a glass a wine.

There is a 14ft trampoline with safety nets, badminton, swings, boules pit, swing ball, football net, and basketball in the gardens, along with numerous games. In the covered veranda area there is table soccer and a darts board. The gardens are large and safe enough for children to play.

Just down the lane there is an 18 km Patrimoine walk through lovely countryside.



The English owners Sandy & Barrie have converted the Longere into 4 cottages (gites) in French leaving in lots of the original features, like granite walls and exposed oak beams.

The Gites have been restored to provide modern conveniences whilst retaining all the charm of a typical French farmhouse.



Although in a quiet location we are only a few minutes from Melle which has a bar-tabac-restaurant-store and 5 mins to Louvigne du Desert with its shops and restaurants.



The area:

We are located in a small village called Melle, which is situated on the Brittany/ Normandy

borders. Here you can spend days on the magnificent beaches known as the Emerald coast, visit walled towns or just walk through the lovely countryside, something for everyone.

Melle is about an hours drive from the port of St Malo, this is also an excellent place to visit, with a walled town and miles of sandy beaches. Also within an hours drive you have the large towns of Rennes, Dinan and Domfront all worth a visit.

Half an hour’s drive will take you to Mont Saint Michel the 2nd most visited place in France after the Eiffel Tower, the walled town of Fougeres with its chateau, St Hilaire a lively market town and Mortain known for its water falls. We are also only 10 mins away from the American War Cemetery at St. James.

Nearby are also water parks, walking and cycle tracks, trout fishing & horse riding, place numerous places of interest.

Just under 2 hours will take you to the D-Day Beaches and the Bayeaux Tapestry.
