Ultimately we are looking for a community of regulars who regard our house as theirs. The village of Chemuyil is so unique to the area in that it is filled with gardens and is completely Mexican. Most of the folks who live here come from the Yucatan and recreated for themselves a village that reflects the family orientated culture they come from. On Saturdays and Sundays, they close the streets off, play music, set up food-it's a village party. Many people have their own sidewalk cafes, where they set up a charcoal grill and start grilling. Tortilias are always fresh, and the smiles are always real. All this and the lovely tourist aspects of Tulum, just ten south, Akumal, 5 minutes north-we just don't think it could be any better!
